Hi friends,
I usually do not do this sort of thing, but I am going out on a limb here.
One of my best friends' little sister, Shira Brownstein is very sick with Scleroderma. If you did not know, Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease where your tissue hardens from the outside in. Scleroderma has caused Shira's lung tissue to become scar tissue-- therefore seriously limiting her lung capacity. At this point, her life expectancy realistically is 26 years old. She is currently 19 and needs a lung transplant. Right at this moment, she is in the ICU of Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. If you are in Tallahassee this upcoming weekend, please plan to attend a special benefit event for her at the Comedy Zone on Sunday night (8/16) from 7-10 pm. All of the proceeds will go to the Scleroderma Foundation. Even if you are not in Tallahassee, please consider giving to the Scleroderma Foundation in her honor. P.S. Even if all you can do is make a card for her to show support, she loves cards from anyone. In the past month, she has spent about two weeks in the hospital (regular and ICU) and getting mail/any cards or facebook messages mean the world to her. If you would like to do this, message me and I would be glad to provide the appropriate information.
